Biography

Sara was born December 1, 1701 to Jacob Aartsen and his wife Sara Pels. She was baptized on December 21, 1701 with Mathys Blansjan and Margriet Blansjan as witnesses [1].

From her father's will "In case of death, the survivors to divide the property, except the property devised to the youngest son Isaac, which in case of his death shall go to his other brothers equally, and except the property devised to the youngest daughter Sara, which shall go to the other sisters.....My youngest daughter Sara shall immediately after her mother's death have her mother's clothing, a new clothing chest, and a new table which Thomas Beekman made, and a tincomb, two iron-potts, a large one and a small one, and my house-mirror which we now use, and two milk-cows, and a new Sunday dress, which I give for my daughter Sara's marriage outfit." [2]

Zara was married 1721 Apr 7 to Salomon Haasbroek [3]. Their children are Abraham [4], Jacabus [5], Jacobus [6], Jan [7] , Symon [8], Petrus [9], and Elias [10]. Sarah also witnessed the baptisms of a few children n1.

Sara VanWagnen passed away on April 3, 1753.

Located i}£ mi. north of New Paltz (Middletown) Sara's father was son of Aert Jacobsen Van Wagenen an early resident of Albany who in 1660 purchased laud at Esopus. See Family CXXV. Sara's mother was dau. of Evert Pels, one of the three first Schepens of Kingston.
